Maureen M. (Sullivan) Doherty, 84, passed away peacefully in Beverly on November 10, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul R. Doherty for 54 years. Maureen was born in Salem on August 25, 1932 to the late Edward and Estelle (Dubois) Sullivan, where she spent her childhood.
She was a 1951 graduate of Ste. Chretienne Academy and a 1954 graduate of the Beverly Hospital School of Practical Nursing and spent the following 8 years in the profession she loved.
In 1961, after marrying the love her life, Maureen and Paul eventually settled in Marblehead where they raised their 6 children. She was an active communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, a long-time volunteer at the Light House Thrift Shop-MSPCC and a member of the Arrangers of Marblehead.
Maureen was devoted to her family as well as her children’s friends, close friends, neighbors and even people with whom she had just met. She created a home that was welcoming to everyone who entered, and was always available to assist whenever needed whether it was to offer childcare, cook a meal, offer her nursing skills, give a haircut, mend clothing or offer love and support. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an easy, welcoming personality that stayed with her up to the end of her life and will be greatly missed.
