Robert J. Digiammarino

MARBLEHEAD -Robert "Bobby" J. Digiammarino, born July 19, 1939, a long-term resident of Marblehead, MA, died on August 17, 2023, at the age of 84. Bobby was born and raised in Malden, MA and graduated from Malden High School. He attended and obtained is Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University and a master’s in secondary education and teaching from Salem State University. Bobby was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle who held family and his Catholic faith of the utmost importance. He worked as a teacher first at Bebee Junior High prior to transitioning to Malden High School teaching and then becoming Vice Principal of Malden High, a position he maintained until he retired. Bobby’s devotion to teaching extended decades and while teaching, he coached football and baseball, and mentored a myriad of students.

Bobby was the last of five boys born to the late Frank and Margaret (Ciaraldi) DiGiammarino and was the beloved husband of the late Helen “Chee Chee” DiGiammarino who he was married to for over 52 years. Bobby will forever be remembered by his children Scott, Craig, and Rick DiGiammarino, his beloved daughters-in-law, Shelley and Beth DiGiammarino, his friend and brother-in-law Ralph Desimone, his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dedicated extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins along with countless family and friends all of whom were blessed to know him.

Bobby loved gardening, building furniture, working on various craft projects, and being with family and friends. For more than 40 years, Bobby volunteered as team leader with his wife on the Marriage Encounter Team, the Pre-Cana Program, and led ARISE at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Marblehead MA.

Bobby touched the lives of many people with his smile, generous spirit, offering kind wisdom and words at the most needed of moments, positively impacting family, and friends as well as the wider community.

Friends and family are invited to attend a wake on Friday, August 25 from 4-8 PM at Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead, MA on Saturday, August 26 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
