

Born in Marblehead, he was the son of the late Rufus and Helen (Fisher) Porter. He graduated from Marblehead High School, and was a veteran of the US Army. Bud was an active member of the VFW Post 2005 in Marblehead.
Bud worked at the Boston Globe for many years and at the Lynn Item, from which he recently retired.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four loving children, Judy Goldman and her fiancé John McCurdy of Swampscott, David Porter and his wife Bonnie of Lake Clear, NY, Michael Porter of Marblehead, and Susan Maitland of Swampscott. He also leaves his nine cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Brian and Jennifer Sandler, Jason Porter, John and Derek Porter, and Christopher and Kyle Maitland, and three cherished great-granddaughters.
His Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11AM in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 26 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, followed by burial in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Eustis & Cornell Funeral Home 142 Elm Street, Marblehead. Donations in his memory may be made to American Heart Assn., P. O.
