Suzanne Suzy E. Fleming

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Dorothy F. (Fraher) Fleming. She graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School, Class of 1964 and from Salem State Colleg,e Class of 1968. She later received a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Salem State College.

Suzy was a well-respected teacher in the Marblehead School System and for many years taught at the Eldridge Gerry School. She retired in 2004 after a 36 year career. She continued to follow her passion for teaching as a substitute teacher in the Marblehead system throughout her retirement. She was an active member of the Mass. Teachers Association, participating in a variety of roles. Additionally, she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Suzy was the mother of Chad Raleigh and his wife Jennie of Boston, and Liz Dwyer and her husband Sam of Marblehead, the sister of Caryl Tierney and her husband Jack of Malone, NY, Wendy Decareau of Beaufort, SC, and Charles Fleming and his wife Julie of Beverly, and the grandmother of Zoe Dwyer, Teddy Dwyer and Colt Raleigh. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Suzy’s life will be held on Friday, June 27th, from 12 PM to 3 PM at the Corinthian Yacht Club, One Nahant Street, Marblehead. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Friends of Marblehead Public Schools, 9 Widger Road, Marblehead, MA 01945.
