So grateful for the visits from Uncle Rod and Aunt Irene when they popped by on their road trips. Found memories of family time too as we’d gather for holidays. Prayers of comfort for the family and happy she’s reunited above with her family and our God and Savior.

Although we didn't have much money to spare growing up, Mom always made sure her daughters had Christmas and Easter dresses, often hand-sewn. The quality of her work was top notch! She inquired before each birthday what shaped birthday cake each child wanted and she always found a way to make it happen. I think we had at least 4 kinds of Christmas cookies to choose from each year--all baked and decorated to perfection. She was there for me when my daughters were born supporting me during their first week of life. My favorite personal memory is when she surprised me on my 50th birthday with the help of my sister, Karen, by showing up in my 5th grade classroom. SO FUN!

There was never a time that Mrs. Poppe was not smiling. Whether on the way to work or later in the day seeing her and coach walking around town (always very fast) warmed my heart. I knew that the day was better because I saw this couple being together and always supporting each other. The community has lost a very special lady who gave so much and never asked for anything in return.

Aunt Irene was a wonderful aunt to us. I remember especially the gatherings she and Uncle Rod hosted at their house. All of them were so much fun. God bless you all in her family.

Irene was a wonderful woman of faith. I considered her a trusted mentor. I loved how God’s Word flowed from her being . She touched my life for eternity . I will always treasure the deep things of God we shared. The scripture that entwined our lives no matter where we were is Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run & not be weary;they shall walk & not faint. Thanks for sharing Irene with me . She will be missed. Take comfort in the resurrection
