

He was born on October 24, 1934 in Cotulla, TX to Jesus and Ofilia (Ortiz) Guerrero. On January 18, 1959, he married Herminia “Minnie” Velasquez in Cotulla, TX. In 1963, they moved to Marengo, IL.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Juan worked at Wal-Mart in Crystal Lake for many years, and previously worked as a Marengo postal worker and at Woodstock Die Cast. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a diehard Cubs and Bears fan, but most of all enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
His is survived by his wife, Minnie; his children, Belinda (the late Freddy) Castro, Elvira (Barry Sweat) Guerrero, Juan Guerrero Jr., David (Rebecca) Guerrero; his grandchildren, Lee Michael Castro, Sydney Sweat, Jocelyn, Olivia, Mia, and David Guerrero; and his sister, Isabel Salazer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Ofilia Guerrero, and his brother, Jesus Guerrero.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 31 from 4 to 8pm at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. A time of sharing will be held at 6pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, September 1 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N. Taylor St., Marengo. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
