Joanie is survived by her children; John Gielski of Parkland (Diane Gielski) and Carol Krauss (Robert Krauss) of Pompano Beach, Florida, grandchildren; Nicole Bridges (Jules Bridges) and Kelly Krauss, great grandchildren; Dominic Bridges and siblings Patricia Ward (Vernon Ward)of Coconut Creek and Joseph Sciandra (Barbara Sciandra)of Margate. She is predeceased by her husband John “Jack” Gielski, brothers Charles Sciandra and Peter Sciandra and sister Mary Calabro.
Joanie was born on April 27th, 1932, to Joseph Angelo Sciandra and Santa Rose (Sofia) Sciandra in Buffalo, New York. She graduated in 1953 from the Edward J Memorial Hospital School Of Nursing with a degree as a registered nurse. She married John (Jack) Gielski, the love of her life, on June 14th, 1958. On March 31, 1959 and February 4th, 1961 respectively she welcomed her son and daughter, the most important part of her life. She began working as a nurse at Meyer Memorial Hospital in Buffalo, New York. After moving to Florida in 1973, she continued working as a R.N. at Cypress Community Hospital and later taught a health class at Deerfield Beach Middle School. After retirement, she was proud to become the school nurse at St. Andrews Catholic School in Coral Springs.
Joanie was a wonderful woman who was passionate about her family and friends. She was an avid bowler and loved all sports. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends and all who knew her.
The family would like to thank Josette Howard, Joanie’s caregiver, for her devoted and loving care.
