José Antonio Rios, 75, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on January 2, 2026, surrounded by love. Originally from Palma Soriano, Cuba, José was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was guided by kindness, sacrifice, and an unwavering love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Rios, the love of his life, and by his parents, Sarah H. Ramirez and Ramón I. Rios. He is survived by his daughters, Yamile Cleter and Yanelis Rios; his son-in-law, Philip Cleter; his grandchildren, Sophia Cleter and Philip Cleter; his sister, Sarah Rios; his nephews, George and David Curbelo; and many extended family members, friends, and coworkers who loved him deeply.
José was a gifted neurosurgeon in Cuba, a calling he lived with pride and humility. In an act of profound love, he left everything he knew behind to give his daughters a better future. In the United States, he continued caring for others as a lab technician at Delray Medical Center, where his coworkers became family and where he was admired not only for his work but for his heart.
Above all, José’s greatest joy was his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he saved, the sacrifices he made, and the love he gave so freely.
The family is deeply grateful to the CVICU team at Delray Medical Center and to his coworkers, whose compassion, presence, and support ensured he was never alone.
José Antonio Rios will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
Friends are invited to the Memorial Gathering this Friday January 23rd 2026 from 12 pm to 2:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm. Following the Celebration, José will be laid to rest at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
