Jerry was born November 9, 1943 in Mobile, Alabama and raised in Atlanta by his parents, Cammie and H.D. Buran. He graduated from Murphy High School in 1961 and from Georgia Tech in 1968 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. He worked in the computer industry, starting with IBM then retiring from Digital Communications Associates (DCA) in Alpharetta as Worldwide Director of Sales & Marketing. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed working as a ranger for Affinity Golf in his retirement. He also enjoyed many world travels and cruises over his lifetime, both for business and pleasure.
Jerry faithfully cared for his wife, Linda Faye McClure Buran, who he married December 19, 1964, throughout her battle with multiple schlerosis until her death in April 2015. His life was full and he is survived by two children, Tracy Buran Evens of Milton and Mark Buran of Cumming, as well as grandchildren Abigail, Zachary and Luke Evens. He moved to Florida in 2016 to enjoy his golden years with Judie Morton. Jerry is also survived by brother Ron Buran (Mary Ann) and sisters Eula Prine (Bob), Mary Wilson (Kelly Sloan) and Norma Bell (Michael), numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
In his own words, “My life has been enhanced by so many: by my first love and deceased wife of 50 years, Linda, who gave me Tracy and Mark, and three wonderful grandkids, and my last love, Judie, who’s loved me to the end. Most importantly, I found love and peace in Jesus Christ.”
