June Kemp Dyer, 89, of Acworth, Ga., passed away peacefully at home with her family. Her last request was to pass in her own home, at 1:00am on Sunday, December 17, 2023. She suffered with several health issues for many years and finally is at peace and in no more pain.
She is survived by her husband, Carlos of 58 years, her son, Thomas (Julie Chiselbrook) and her daughter, Julie Pearson. She had 3 Grandchildren Kristen Dyer, Luke Pearson, and Kevin Dyer, and one Great Grandchild, Jordan Pearson. As well as a brother, Don (Susan) Kemp. She was a lifetime native of Acworth and Cobb County, and was born at home to Omer and Ruth Kemp, who have preceded her in death.
She was an educator for 35 years in Cobb, Fulton, and Cherokee counties. Was a member of Acworth United Methodist Church for 88 years, her whole life. She was a member of the Garden Club tea Circle for women in the 1970’s and 1980’s, till disbanded. She enjoyed being with family, gardening, and traveling. She was a graduate of LaGrange College, where she met some lifetime friends, and were like sisters to her. We called them the Golden Girls, since there were 4 and were our version of the group.
She loved her home and was a self-proclaimed homebody. She always loved to travel, but also loved coming home, too. At one point, she ran the Food Pantry at Acworth UMC, and in Lieu of Flowers we ask that donations go to the Acworth UMC Food Pantry.
