

Mary Lou Hester DuPree, age 80, of Powder Springs, GA passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Macland Baptist Church in Powder Springs with Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. She will lie in state at the church from 12pm until 1pm prior to the ceremony.
A lifelong resident of Cobb County, Mrs. DuPree graduated from Marietta High School in 1964. She retired after a total of 30 years of employment from Lockheed in 2001 after a long career in Human Resources, having served on the Negotiating Committee and traveling across the country to California and Texas many times. She was a dedicated long-time member of Macland Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and volunteered during Vacation Bible School.
Mrs. DuPree also worked as a substitute teacher with the Cobb County School System. She loved working in her yard, especially cutting grass. Her passion was spending time with her family, whether it be water skiing and tubing at the lake, hanging out at the beach and deer camp, or traveling across the U.S. and Canada with her husband who played in senior softball tournaments. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Emmer Louise Hester, her brother, Tony Hester, and her sister, Peggy Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Cooper DuPree; daughter, Cynthia Lou (Mark) Maddox, Rockmart, GA; son, Jerry Matthew (Sandra Allen) DuPree, Powder Springs, GA; four grandchildren, Joshua Maddox, Zachary Maddox, Madalyn DuPree, and Cooper DuPree. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 6pm until 8pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
