Walter Eugene “Gene” Rickman, 89, of Marietta passed away on Sunday, March 26th. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Historic Marietta Chapel of Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home.
Gene was born on January 21, 1934, to Mont Vester and Jessie Mae (Burrell) Rickman. Gene was a lifelong resident of Cobb County. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1950. He was a self-employed contractor and owned and operated ACME Lumber Co. in Acworth along with his four brothers. Gene was a charter member of Shiloh Hills Baptist Church in Kennesaw.
Gene is survived by his son, Eddie Rickman; daughter, Myra Rosser; and son, Larry Marler. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Margrea Rickman; daughter, Judy Marie; and granddaughter, Ellie Mendoza.
Private inurnment will take place at Kennesaw Memorial Park on June 7, 2023
