Anne Thompson Abercrombie

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Mark Abercrombie.

She is survived by her husband, John Joseph Abercrombie, Sr.; daughter, Cynthia Abercrombie Burdette (Brian A. Burdette); grandchild, Carson A. Burdette; son, John Joseph Abercrombie, Jr.; sisters, Virginia Boyd Shaw and Hazel Elizabeth Stuart (Sam); brothers,

John Knox Thompson, Sr., Robert Russell Thompson (Janice); William David Thompson (Bonnie); also, several nieces and nephews.

Anne was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 55 years and volunteered at the YMCA. She loved having Martinsville as her community home. She was an avid golfer, bowler and volleyball player. She loved college football and basketball.

An entombment of the cremains will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in the First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville, Va. columbarium and will be officiated by Reverend Dr. B. Miller. A memorial service in the Church Sanctuary will immediately follow the Entombment. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service.
