Connie David Campbell, Sr.

Connie David Campbell Sr., 89, of Martinsville, Va. passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 of natural causes. Connie was born on April 28, 1935, to the late Thomas Jefferson Campbell and Clarice Mabel Martin Campbell in Henry County, Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline C. Josefson, Doris C. Maddox and Jeanette C. Joyce; brothers, Hardy Campbell, Thomas W. Campbell, Jamie F. Campbell, Wayne H. Campbell and Ernest M. Campbell

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Gregory Campbell; his sister, Glenda Campbell Mays (Levi); his four children, Robin Campbell Garten (James), Nancy Faith Campbell, Connie David Campbell Jr. and Kevin Scott Campbell (Misty); 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and a lot of very close friends.

Connie spent thirty-three years of his career with the Henry County school systems and retired in the year 2000. He bought Jiffy car wash in 1964 and was the proud owner and operator until 2020. You could always find him there handing out chewing gum and adding quarters to your wash.

He was a beloved member of Trinity Friends Church in Martinsville. He taught junior boys in the church for forty years and was a dedicated Gideon.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home on 109 Broad St, Martinsville, Virginia. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm and will be officiated by Pastor Ron Hill. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
