Earlene Amos Joyce

Earlene Amos Joyce, 80, of Spencer-Preston Road, Martinsville, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Select Specialty Care in Greensboro, NC. She was born in Sandy Ridge, NC on December 19, 1930 to Luke and Lottie Hawkins Amos. After her retirement from Tultex where she was employed for over 35 years, she worked as a caregiver. She was a member of Spring Street Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Dodson and Alvarie Mabe Rock; three brothers, Claude, Aldean and Harold Amos.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Thomas Allen Joyce of the residence; one daughter, Sharon J. Rakes of Martinsville; four sons, Tommy Joyce, Steve Joyce, Danny Joyce and Michael Joyce, all of Martinsville; three sisters, Helen Reynolds of Robbins, NC, Virginia Faust of Greensboro, NC and Joy Hooper of Smithfield, VA;one brother, Dennis Amos of McLeanville, NC; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. at Spring Street Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the memorial service.

Interment will be private.
