

He was born September 30, 1928 to the late Harry T. Cox and Irene Spangler Cox. He was preceded in death by brothers Wallace, Grady, John, and Tom Cox, and one sister, Helen Eggleston.
He served in Germany in the US Army Highway Patrol during the Korean War.
He retired with 35 years of service from Dupont. After retiring, he taught pipe-fitting at Patrick Henry Community College.
He was a member of Fontaine Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ruth Taylor Cox, of the home. One son, Jay Cox (Dianne) of Ridgeway, three daughters, Jennifer Cox, Mary Ann Williams (Mark), both of Martinsville, and Laurie Sitler (Jeff), of Lewisville, NC. One brother, Kennon Cox (Martha), and sisters, Lorena Compton, Juanita Ramsey, Clara Mize (Jackie), all of Martinsville, Frances Hundley (Doug) of Fieldale, and Barbara Martin (J.C.) of Advance, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary Hughes and Rev. Andrew Shanks officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville, VA.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, and at other times at the residence, 1377 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville, VA 24112.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Fontaine Baptist Church, 170 Fisher Farm Rd., Martinsville, VA 24112, or Rich Acres Baptist Church Building Fund, 78 Stuart Ridge Road, Martinsville, VA 24112.
