

Margaret Anna Simmons passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 23, 1931 to the late Edward Eichelberger and Grace Friel Eichelberger. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Richard Simmons Sr., brother Samuel Eichelberger and sister Ann Rolfes.
Mrs. Simmons was active in the Ridgeway Fire Department Auxiliary for many years, was a Girl Scout leader, and was a member at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a homemaker for many years.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by daughters, Patricia Ann Welfare, Carol Ann Scott and husband Steve, Mary Grace Bean and husband Walter; sons, Carroll R. Simmons Jr. and wife Susan, William E. Simmons and wife Mary, and Patrick D. Simmons and wife Debbie. In addition to her children she is also survived by her brother, Edward Eichelberger and wife Mary Lou; grandchildren, Rita Scott and husband Jon, Elizabeth Bryan and husband Richard, Jennifer Anderson and husband Tim; great grandchildren, Amber, Hailey, Rebekah and Trey.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, 2481 Spruce Street, Martinsville, VA. with Father Nicholas Mammi officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Steve Scott, Richard Bryan, James Rodgers, Robert Church, Eddie Newman, and Donald Newman.
