

Richard Anderson (Dickie) Morris, 95, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Martinsville, April 27, 1918 to Patrick Thomas Morris and Elizabeth Smithson Morris. He served in the Navy during WW II and retired from DuPont after 30 years of service. He was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church and also served as deacon and Sunday School teacher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Morris Harris (Jerry) and Elizabeth Morris Grizzard (James); three brothers, Thomas Pettius Morris, Robert Walton Morris (Ruth) and William Smithson Morris (Virginia); one niece, Anne Tyree Dudley Russell and one nephew, Gary Wayne Dudley, Jr.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Alta Bayne.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Excie Lee Dudley Morris of the home; one sister-in-law, Esther Morris; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Vicki Dudley, Gary and Shirley Dudley; nieces, Elizabeth (Libby) Warton, Susan Thompson, Mary Smithson Collins and Lori Dudley; nephews, Tom Morris, George Grizzard and Kevin Dudley.

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. G. H. Vaughan officiating.
