Roy Thomas Richardson Jr.

Roy Thomas Richardson, Jr., 76, of Martinsville, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. He was born in Henry County, December 21, 1937 to Rev. Roy Thomas Richardson, Sr. and Jessie Thomasson Richardson. He was a graduate of Bassett High School and Danville Community College and retired from DuPont after 36 years of service. He was a very active and dedicated member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Deaton.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen Eagle Richardson of the residence; four daughters, Wendi Hare and husband, Paul of Midlothian, VA, Torri Keene and husband, Jim of Martinsville, Tiffani Wright and fiancée, Kevin Austin of Martinsville, Tomara Spencer and husband, Timmy of Bassett; three sisters, Eva Edwards and husband, Rev. Frank Edwards of Belfast, TN, Jessie Leigh Murphy of Martinsville and Bonnie Haley of Stoneville, NC; six grandchildren, Kelley Thomas Hare, Kasey Ellen Hare, Kristin Torri Keene, Kaitlin MacKenzie Keene, Lauren Brock Wright and Dillon Everett Spencer.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 31, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the residence.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Chatham Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Edwards and Dr. Michael Hatfield officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chatham Heights Baptist Church, 1235 Chatham Road, Martinsville, VA 24112.
