Ruth Eagle Southard, age 88, of Martinsville, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. Born in Kingsport, TN, January 22, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John Hugh Eagle and Stella McCoy Eagle. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, her son, Gregory Southard, her sister, Louise Eagle Harris, and her half-brother, Clarence Wilburn Oliver. She was a graduate of Fieldale High School, Jefferson Professional Institute, and attended Patrick Henry Community College, and was a member of County Line Church of God of Prophecy. Ruth had worked at both DuPont and the MCL Corp in Charlottesville. Surviving is her son, John Randolph ‘Randy’ Southard and his wife Pamela P. Southard of Richmond, three grandchildren, Amy S. Taylor, Ian McFadden, Andrew McFadden, five great-grandchildren, Allyson Holder, Charity Holder, C. Maggie Holder, Seren McFadden, Travis Taylor, nieces and a nephew, Susan Harris, Karen H. Mayes, Bobby Harris, Rhonda H. Murray, and Janice H. Pierce.
