Carl M. Mennare, Sr., age 63, passed away at home November 30, 2010. He was born February 2, 1947, in Clawson, MI, to Carl and Rosella “Rose” (Oshkieniew) Mennare. Carl was the Great-great-great-great grandson of Chief Oshkosh of the Menominee Tribe in Wisconsin. Carl was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, earning many medals including the Purple Heart during his service from June 1965 to July 1968 in the 101st Airborne -2nd 327. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arthur. Surviving are his loving wife of 23 years, Dolly Mennare; 3 sons, Carl Mennare, Jr. (Fay), Ron Mennare (Stacey), Matthew Mennare (Rachel Parver); 2 daughters, Kimberly Martin (Jeremy), Amber Myers (Tim), stepdaughters, Capi Earegood (Steve), Tonia (George) Brown, Coral Damon-Brown (Andy); sisters, Christina Jones and Elizabeth Dorsch (Dennis); 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Carl was dearly loved and will be missed.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, December 11, 2010, at St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing, Mason, MI. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Ball-Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason, MI.
