Cecil Ray Jenks

Cecil Ray Jenks, age 93, of Mason, passed away on July 28, 2016 at home. The son of Earl and Princess (Root) Jenks, Cecil was born February 24, 1923. A proud union supporter, Cecil was member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 for over 55 years. He loved the Detroit Tigers, hunting, fishing, gardening, Marilyn Monroe, coin collecting, had a passion for classic cars, and quite the sweet tooth. Cecil was a jovial individual who loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, giving them bags of pennies and candy whenever he would see them. In his 50’s he survived a fight with cancer, even before modern technology. Cecil will be remembered by his loving children; Larry (Elenore) Hartman, Lorrie (Bob) Peterson, Gwen (Kevin) Haney, Brenda (Art) Morales, Sandra (Reese Sommers) Jenks, Cristy Holley, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and his brother Earl Jenks. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Jenks. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday August 2nd at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Mason Chapel 621 S. Jefferson St. with a visitation two hours prior beginning at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823.
