Donald was a combat wounded veteran of World War II serving with the 3rd Infantry Division in Europe. He was awarded the French Legion of Honor, 2 Purple Hearts, 1 Bronze Star and 8 Major Battle Stars. He was a Charter Member of the World War II Memorial Society.
Donald was a life member of the American Legion Post #148 of Mason and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7309 of Mason. He was a member of the Mason Kiwanis Club and Charter member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club for which he was past president for both. He was a long-time member of the First United Church of Mason.
Donald was a builder for many years in the Mason area. He enjoyed volunteering for Christmas in April, Habitat for Humanity, and building ramps for the handicapped.
Donald is survived by; son, David (Yvonne) Jacot; daughter, Donna (Carl) Lawson; and daughter, Denise (Patrick) Goveia; sister-in-law, Betty Jacot; six grandchildren, Renee Jacot, Jay Jacot, Nathan Lawson, Meghan (Lawson) Duane, Corey (Burgess) Turner, Crista (Burgess) Cripe; and nine great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Agnes (Ellis) Jacot; father Frank R. Jacot; mother, Viola (Benson) Jacot; brother, Kenneth Jacot; sister Clara (Jacot) Ramsay; and great-granddaughter, Hazel Duane.
A memorial service for Donald will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Mason, 201 E. Ash Str., Mason, MI. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
