Donald S. Orthner, born September 28, 1928 to Philip and Bertha Orthner of Fenton, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2018. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor; his parents and brother, Wilbur. Don grew up in Fenton, Michigan. He attended Fenton High School, where he later was inducted into the Fenton Hall of Fame for athletics. He attended Bob Jones University (1950) and Michigan State University where he earned degrees in education, BA (1956) and Masters (1958). Don worked as an educator, counselor and administrator for the Lansing School District (1956-1987). Don also served his country in the armed forces. Anyone who knew Don knows how much he loved sports, especially basketball, baseball, and tennis. Don excelled at each of these sports and continued to play competitive sports into his early 70’s. As much as Don loved sports, he loved his Lord and Savior even more. He faithfully served his local church in many ways, supported missionaries around the world, and even in his later years, Don brought joy to so many around him. We praise God for having Don in our lives and his Heavenly home!
