Evelyn J. Short, Mason, age 81. Our loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away December 16, 2019; born October 13, 1938 in Mineral Wells, West Virginia. She met Arnold (Frank) Short in WV and after his tour of duty they were married in Dansville, MI on September 25, 1955. Evelyn was a homemaker in Mason, MI and enjoyed frequent family get togethers, trips and being active in her and Arnold's old car club (Mason County Seat Old Car Club and Hub Antique Old Car Club of St. John's.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Arnold F. Short; four children, Tanga (Roy) Korte, Tony (Nina) Short, Teresa (Bob) Linderman and Todd (Gina) Short; thirteen grandchildren, Rick (Amber) Stierley, Scott (Donna) Stierley, Steve (Krystin) Stierley, Rob (Valeri) Stierley, Andy (Kathy) Stierley, Nicki (Jeff) Kasmar, Dan (Megan) Short, Kraig Short, Jerad (Laurie) Short, Teddy (Jack) Jaquette, Baylee Nequette, Kruiz (Natisha) Short and Todd, Jr (Sam) Short; twenty seven great-grandchildren, Rickey Spinner, Shelby, Tristin, Marah and Ashlynn Stierley, Rebecca Stierley, Hudson, Oliver and Grace Stierley, Jaycie and Lucas Stierley, Addison and MacKenzie Stierley, Brayden Kasmar, Lialah and Easton Short, Rhianaon, Mary, Madison and Brice Short, Luna, Desa Rae, Wesley and Bella June Short, Harrison Short, Bentley (and soon-to-be arriving Jan. 27, Walker Short) and two great-great-grandchildren, Kali Stierley and Terrance Spinner. She is also survived by brother, Robert (JoAnn) Caltrider and sisters, Mary (Wayne) Nichols and Connie (Robert) Shepard. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert Ray and Beaulah Matheny Caltrider; son, Tom (Rose)Short and great-grandson, Waylon Short.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 11 a.m., Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Ball-Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson Street, Mason, MI 48854. with Pastor Jeff Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 19, 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason.
