Marta Celia Sanchez

Marta Celia Sanchez, 91, went home to be with our Lord on Feb. 4, 2021 in Mason, Michigan. She shared 56 beautiful years with her husband, Natividad Berrios, who passed July 25, 2010. The two shared two beautiful children, Walter and Helen. Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Eugenio Sanchez and Nelida Alvarado. She graduated from Catholic University of Ponce Puerto Rico as the first female Anesthesiologist of Puerto Rico. She devoted all of her free time to assist with medical aid while her husband was in the Air Force. As a truly caring and supportive woman, she raised her two children with all of the love in the world. She loved her family dearly. She will be remembered for her endless devotion to loving and supporting her family, her admiration for nature and her warm heart. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter Helen Marie Sanchez Wilson; her grandchildren, Nathalie Berrios Gonzalez and Cristina Marie Santiago Sanchez; her great grandson Loren Michael Montoya; her brothers, Luis Sanchez and Gumer Sanchez; and her sisters, Cruz Marie Sanchez and Livia (Vivita) Sanchez. Marta is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Natividad Berrios; her son Walter Berrios; her grandson Loren Osvaldo Santiago Sanchez; her father, Eugenio Sanchez; her mother, Nelida Alvarado; and her brothers, Angel Sanchez and Euclides Sanchez. A private funeral service for the family will be held on Feb. 10, 2021 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes in Mason, Michigan.
