Rickey Jane Belknap

Born on January 12, 1950 in Lansing, Michigan to her parents, the late Max Sammy Scripter and Evelyn Lucille (Bowers) Scripter. Rickey was a graduate of Mason High School class of 1969.

On June 13, 1970, Rickey would happily marry the love of her life Franklin Louis Belknap at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Lansing, Michigan.

In 1971 she graduated from Lansing Community College program of Practical Nursing, and then furthered her certifications in Pharmacology in 1973. Rickey and her husband Frank would raise their two children; Michael Belknap, and Tracey Belknap.

The family established residency living in Lansing from June of 1970, and eventually moved to Mason, Michigan in May of 1976. Rickey enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and was an avid participant in Girl Scouts, 4-H, and advancing in her career. Tragically, Rickey lost her husband Franklin to a tough battle of lymphoma on February 7, 1988, however Rickey still remained hard working, raising her kids, always spent time with her loving grandchildren; Justin Belknap, Steven Belknap, Jordan Belknap, Franklin Whipple, Nicolas Belknap; and her great-grandchildren, Ryker Michael Lee Belknap and Colton Neal Bouwens.

Rickey will fondly be remembered for her love of cooking, baking, and canning the vegetables and fruit grown in her garden. She had a strong love for the outdoors fishing with her son and cherished the memories she made exploring the outdoors with her husband Franklin.

A visitation for Rickey will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 621 South Jefferson Street, Mason, Michigan 48854 followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. An interment will occur at Maple Grove Cemetery, 213 North Jefferson Street, Mason, Michigan 48854.
