I trained under Frank as a young boy and so did my son. I am quite sure it helped him in his outstanding high school wrestling career. He was a good friend of my father’s.

I think of Kovács Sensei often and pray that he is a Guardian Angel to all of us who work to Protect & Serve.

Without Frank Kovacs, and his teaching I would have never overcome bullying, I might not have spoke my mind as truthfully as i do... I went in to the studio and got to speak with him a few years back and saw him in his chair, I walked up to him and told him who I was, and was met with a large smile... Thats how i will always remember him.

You were my first teacher and have left a lasting impression that will never be forgotten. You were not only Master Frank, but as a little girl, you were at my birthdays in my home and a part of my family. What I have learned from you has become the most fundamental part of who I am. I would be excited when I came home from college and walk from my moms store to come see you. I would still always bow when I came in and you would be in your chair squinting to see who came in. When you realized it was me I will always remember the smile that spread across your face as you said heyyyy babyy! That will always be your chair and that will always be the first place that I ever learned something that meant anything. EVerytime I'm back in Cleveland driving to my moms store, like I always do, I will still drive the back way to pass by and see if you're in there. I know you will be.

Frank you were such a huge part of my childhood and the reason behind the confidence I have as an adult. I was your student for many years and you will never be forgotten. I am so glad that I stopped to see you and one of my children had to the honor to meet such a great man, a master in his art and friend and mentor to so many. May you rest in peace. Frank was, is and will always be larger than life.  I have thought about him often over the years. His influence remains.

Frank I remember when I was a little girl and I would walk to watch your classes than many years later my son and nephew went to your classes and you always remembered me you really liked my son Chris and taught him a lot..everyone in the neighborhood is so sad but you were a great man and a great teacher and you will be missed.

I am sorry to hear of your loss of your Father. He was a good friend of everyone and our family. The photo in the "High Karate" add he did was great back in the 70's. He will be remembered for that as well as other good things he accomplished throughout his life.

I was surprised and saddened to hear of Frank's passing. I had just stopped in to see him a few months ago. He was one of a kind and you thought he'd live forever. We all did. Made some wonderful friends and had great fun during my time as one of his students.

my condolences to Kovacs family.  Bill Gerbasi was his student in 1970s and he spoke highly of Frank who is very good patience and teach him with his deaf gestures of speaking.  He will be miss very much.

I was very saddened to hear of Frank's. passing.  I started lessons at 15 yrs old.   Took a break then went back after his encouragement. when I had a 4 week old baby. Obtained my black belt at 30 yrs old.  The best time of my life I spent there.  I will never forget him.  Or when he affectionately called me. Dago.    RIP Frank  you were truly a legend to me 29 yrs later.

Frank was truly a mentor to myself and countless others. I will always cherish the time I spent at Mayfield Academy. He will be missed!

A Very nice man. He used to great me with a smile and or a hand shake and small talk outside his karate studio when i walked by on my way to and from the gym. I knew him as a fixture in the community and that he had tremendous influence on the youth in the community for as far back as when i was a child back in the 60's.

My condolences, Steve, to you and your family. It's always difficult to lose a parent. Your dad had a huge impact on many of the people around him, and his loss will be noticed. Your family will not be alone in its grief.

I have many fond memories of my time with you at Mayfield Karate. You took a small Italian boy at the age of 10 and gave him the  confidence and control he needed to succeed. You included me in many of the School's demonstrations at festivals and that made me feel special. I truly enjoyed your leadership and friendship. I know your inspiration and energy will be missed by many.
