Joseph Luis Sgro

JOSEPH LUIS SGRO age 85, passed away September 9, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Rosa Maria (nee Crognale); loving companion of Alba Mosier; dearest father of Sylvia Sgro (David Fitch), Trish Sgro (Joe Kickel) and Joseph A. Sgro; devoted grandfather of Joseph L. Huffman (Mikki Vance), great grandfather of Ava R. and Giovanni L. "Gio" Huffman; dear brother of Maria Lucia Sgro (deceased), Yolanda Irma Sgro and Rosa Noemi Sgro (deceased). Joe was born and raised in Lanus, Argentina by his uncle. As a child, after school he would help his uncle at his barbershop, cleaning up and observing and eventually as an apprentice, he learned to cut hair and shave around the age of 13. He came to the U.S. in 1960 to live with his uncle and aunt in Cleveland in the early sixties and met his wife Rosa (also from Argentina) in a local ESL class. Together they raised a family. Joe went on to build a successful career as a well known barber, friend and confidant in the community . In 1964 he bought his first barber shop in PepperPike, then Beachwood and currently the shop in Shaker Heights, now owned by daugher Trish. He loved being outdoors, traveling, gardening and swimming. He will be remembered as a great, loving, hardworking father, who lived the American Dream.
