

ROBERT A. SABA, 91, of Mayfield Heights, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Beachwood Commons Assisted Living Facility, Beachwood, Ohio. Retired now 36 years, Robert was a Corporate Vice President of Human Resources for the Cleveland Trust Bank and spent his entire career with the bank. Born in Cleveland, he was the son of the late Tanas and Sofia (Plikiades) Saba. Robert is preceded in death by his two brothers, the older Edward, husband of Rosalyn Saba of Allentown, PA and the younger Richard, husband of Betty Saba of Downers Grove, IL. Robert was a 1944 graduate of Shaw High School in Cleveland and a 1950 Bachelor of Arts Graduate of the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia. He was a member of Sigma Phi fraternity and a life-long contributor to the welfare of his alma mater. Robert was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He also served the Navy in the Korean War. Robert was a special uncle to his four nephews and niece, their spouses and children and spent considerable time with them all. Robert’s funeral will be presided over by Pastor Brent Saba, one of nine grand nephews and nieces. Robert was close to all of his grand nephews and nieces, many who traveled to Cleveland in recent months to spend time with him. He had many close friends outside his extended family and participated as an active member in several social groups and gatherings in the greater Cleveland community, including the Shaw Lunch Bunch, the POETS club and the Cleveland Trust/Ameritrust bank retirement group. The Saba family wishes to thank Robert’s very special caregivers at Beachwood Commons, including his personal caregivers from Montefiore Home Care, the Hospice Group and the many close friends and neighbors that have extended comfort and love to Robert especially in his later years.
Survivors: Include his two sister-in-laws, Rosalyn and Betty, cousins, Mary Phillips, wife of Dick Phillips of North Hampton, NH, and Helen Fleming, wife of Len Fleming of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are nephews Gary T. Saba and his wife Nadia, of Allentown, PA, Gregory D. Saba and his wife Maria, of Allentown, PA, niece Lynne M. (Saba) Dean, wife of Jeffrey Dean of West Chester, PA, Steven A. Saba and his wife Christine of Downers Grove, IL, and Ronald A. Saba and Carolyn Harris of Indianapolis, IN. There are also six grand nephews, three grandnieces and one great grandniece that survive Robert.

Services: Funeral Service 9:30 am Saturday, August 19 at DICICCO & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 5975 MAYFIELD ROAD, MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OH 44124, where the family will receive friends.
