

Preceding him in death were his parents, Richard M. Wilke MD and Mary E. Wilke (née Bauman).
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Patricia A. (née Brenneman); children, Jonathan M. and Lisa A. Beller (Robby); sister Mary C. Vitter (Mark), and brothers Richard L. (Mary), James B., and Charles M. (June).
“Dr. Bill” graduated from the University of Notre Dame and the Medical College of Wisconsin. After completion of a medical internship and residency at Akron City Hospital and a fellowship in rheumatology at the Cleveland Clinic, he joined the Cleveland Clinic staff and remained there for 37 years. He retired in April of 2011. Throughout his career, in addition to teaching and mentoring, he chaired various medical committees, edited journals and books, and authored over 100 publications including The Cleveland Clinic Guide to Fibromyalgia.
In his leisure time, he spent many happy hours hiking the trails of the Cleveland Metro Parks with his camera and walking stick. For much of his life, he was an avid fossil hunter and collector. In addition, he enjoyed creative writing, swimming, watching movies, and spending time with his family. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at a later date.
