I was Alyene's physical therapist and loved going to see her. After the exercises I would stay extra just to talk with her about old movies and hear her stories. We would have old movie trivia contests and of course she would win. I just found out about her passing and feel a great sense of loss, not just for me but for all those lives she touched.I will surely miss her.

Alyene Weisman was one of my dearest and most important influences in my life. I missed calling her on her birthday last year and I tried today - only to look up the obituaries.

She was one of many BEST and dearest friends of my parents Mitzi and Edward Briehn.  

We had so many parties throughout my teen and young adult years.

Alyene was a jazz singer in her younger years in Las Vegas, so she sang jazz songs while Laura Wyatt played the piano - we had an absolute blast!

Alyene was one of the GREATS - she took it upon herself to learn just about everything there is to know about Viscaya and its history while going blind from macular degeneration. She accomplished this by reading books by a magnifying glass. By the time she was finished, she was legally blind - with only enough vision to see light and dark.  

She became a docent at Viscaya, guiding tourists around the palace with the feel of the stair rails. She explained every artifact in explicit detail with delight.

I am so grateful that Alyene came into my life and influenced a better life for me.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
