John & Lorraine, We've lost a very special lady, a good friend. I'll remember her outstanding courage forever, her contagious upbeat attitude and of course her smile. While this is a great loss for you now,  God now has a precious angel who will be relentlessly watching over you.

With loving memory of Mother Carmen a special lady, she will be remembered for so many things, from her whit, spunk , energy and drive, and those things live on in both her children and in our memories. Her strength, positive attitude and zest for life should be a goal for all of us who continue to live on.
I will miss our phone conversations and on going joking that made her such fun to speak with. She is gone from this physical life but touched us all and those thoughts and memories shall live on in each of us. I hold a special place in my heart for you, we will miss you!

My Godmother, Carmen came into my life the day I was born.  I sprinkled flowers for her as she walked down the aisle to marry her beloved Claudio.

She, my father, Joe and their cousin, Millie were raised together and were more like brother and sisters than cousins, so she was also an important family member.

Carmen has been my inspiration and strength throughout my life. Her words "si se puede" will continue to echo in my mind when I search for a way.

Her life stories, her determination and dignity have touched all who have met her.  I am grateful to be one of those that loved her and received her love in return.

We are so sorry for your loss, you know how much myself, Frank, my Mom,Manny, Johnny,Paul and Cef loved Carmen. She truly inspired me so much.Because of her i know thats where i get my strength.

Dear John and Lorraine,
Even though it is not easy to see loved ones go, as Christians we know that they are better off now - so, let's   rejoice!  Jeremias said it best when he wrote: "I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow."  We pray that the Lord will take good care of her and that she has once again joined her beloved Cayito.

On our first visit to an LMC interfaith service, Rev Lori delivered an inspiring message about the importance of walking in ones faith as one faces life's challenges.  She explained how her mother, Carmen, displayed an example of this spiritual strength as she fought, and overcame, cancer. From that day on, we were honored to have the opportunity to get know this amazing woman. During that time, Rev Mother (as we called her), faced another bout with cancer. Despite her health issue, she maintained a zest for life that showed us what it was really like to walk that godly path.  We will miss her laughter, her genuine compassion for others, and her loving heart.  Our prayers go out to her family, for whom she cared so deeply. Those of us who were lucky to have known and shared time with Aunt Carmen know that she was a warm, caring and joyful person to have around you. Never shy to say what was on her mind, but always sensitive to the needs of others and willing to give a helping hand. She was a very dear person to me when I was a teenager and she was even more special to my children. We will always have a place for her in our hearts. For Carmen, I've know you all my life and you became my second Mom. You introduced me to Spanish coffee (yuck) and empanadas (yum).  You always let me eat all the green olives.  I still remember my trips to Spanish Harlem even though I was a little kid.  I'll miss your sharp wit and kindness.  Now you're with the rest of the Ashley gang and Claudio.  And I'm sure you all having a blast together.  I'll miss you.  From the #$%^ little kid from across the street.
