Chickie was a Sweet Soul and a Bright Light. I would describe her as Loving, Thoughtful, Intelligent, Beautiful, Fun, Unique, Courageous, Patient, and above all else, Kind… and on and on. For me, I had many memories with Chickie. We attended lots of gatherings and parties together and we were all on a recovery path together. I was fortunate enough to call her a friend. One year, for her Birthday, we all went to this Drag show in Fort Lauderdale. It was a total trip!! And we always had a blast no matter what we were doing. But I would see her at our weekly meetings and she had a very tangible sense of gratitude. She cared deeply about the people in her life and also the ones in passing, whom she did not know. She valued all it took to turn a life around from addiction. She also was incredibly changed by all she was exposed to bc of her support of the one she loved, Leon. She was inspired. She was incredibly open. And she was inspiring. I’m grateful and blessed to have known Chickie Blumberg like I did, and fortunate to have all the memories of great time spent with her.

I’d love to add a memory I have so many she wonderful memories of Chickie however, this is very hard for me because I was very close to her. She used to give me a Christmas present every year of something unique that I would love and she was always right. This is the type of person she was.

I remember that first day Chickie and Leon came to the Porch. Knowing how important our loved ones are in our new journey in recovery, I could see the love and support Chickie had for Leon. The fact Leon was a Marine Veteran, I felt a strong alliance with him but it was Chickie's daily attendance with Leon that bolstered my faith in his commitment to get and stay sober, no matter what. I soon became close with the both of them and despite Chickie not being an alcoholic, I knew that her vested interest in Leon's pursuit in sobriety was a wonderful foundation for them both in the years to come. I feel so fortunate in having known Chickie; her observations and input helped me understand my own relationship with my significant other and my own journey in this new life. We will miss Chickie very much as her sweetness and intelligence helped myself and many others.

My heart breaks! My only true love. I miss you so much my baby. I will see you on the other side again. I will always love you forever. 😞😞😞❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻

This was just a short time after the pandemic, we were all at the mall. 
Chickie had a special place in my heart, the second I met her, she and my mother have the same name. I only knew one person in the world with that name before I met her. 
We had many conversations about God on the phone together while she was in the hospital. And one night she called me about 1:00 am in the morning and she asked me to pray with her and rededicate her life back to the Lord.  Chickie is a blessed soul and is peacefully at Home with the Lord. 
She is watching over Leon, and one day they will  see each other again, but her loving spirit will always be with him.❤️🙏🏼

My late husband, Kim and I attended Fort Lauderdale unity church years ago. We were blessed to meet Chickie and Leon there. She  was one of the sweetest loveliest, gentle souls  I’ve ever had the honor to meet. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. My prayers are with Leon and the family.
