A devoted husband, cherished father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, Navy veteran, a compassionate advocate and public servant, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, service, and unwavering integrity.
Born on February 6, 1937, in Allentown, Pennsylvania and raised in Miami, Florida from the age of six, Hank lived a life defined by quiet strength and generous spirit. He shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gail. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless joyful memories, raising two daughters, Kala and Melanie, who carry forward his wisdom, compassion, strength and values.
Hank was a man of many passions. He found great joy on the tennis court, where his competitive spirit was matched only by his genuine love for the game and the friendships it brought. His work made a tangible impact on countless lives, with his commitment to inclusion and dignity for all.
Hank served his country honorably in the United States Navy, carrying with him the values of discipline and duty throughout his life. He received his undergraduate degree from University of Miami, his Master’s degree from Florida State University and earned his Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in Public Administration. He went on to work at Miami-Dade County Public Schools and was a professor at Barry University and Florida International University.
Those who knew him will remember his deep empathy, his calm presence, and his ability to listen with both patience and heart. He led not with volume, but with integrity, purpose, and steadfast conviction.
Hank is survived by his wife Gail Sterner, his two daughters, Kala Williams and Melanie Sterner, his son-in-law, Maxim Williams and his two granddaughters, Mila and Ava Williams, who brought immense light and joy into his life. His love for his family was the foundation of everything he did, and his legacy will live on through them.

May his memory be a blessing.
