It is with heavy hearts and joyful memories that we announce the passing of Jimmie (James) Reiter, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 78 on Monday, September 23rd, 2024.
A Coral Gables High School graduate, Jimmie was a beacon of love and humor for all who knew him. He devoted 54 wonderful years to his wife, Amy, building a life filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished moments. Together, they took many adventures together, and raised two remarkable sons, Scott and Adam, who carry on his legacy of kindness and integrity.
Family was everything to Jimmie. He had a very close relationship with his two sisters, Sheila and Iris, as well as with his daughters-in-law, Niamh and Amanda. He was immensely proud of his two grandchildren, Cian and Declan and got tremendous joy from spending time with them. He loved family gatherings and the opportunity to connect with his nieces, nephews and their extended families.
A proud Sigma Rho Fraternity member, Jimmie founded his first business at 24 and demonstrated unwavering dedication to his career. He had a talent for connecting with people. His ability to overcome obstacles not only showcased his drive but also served as an inspiration to many.
Jimmie was known for his kid-at-heart spirit, warm smile and strong belief that he was always right. He followed in his father’s footsteps serving the community as a member of the Coral Gables Police Department’s Mobile Patrol Unit. He was also a very loyal friend, always willing to lend a helping hand, or simply be there if you needed him.
A celebration of Jimmie’s life will be held on Thursday, September 26th at 11:30 AM at Temple Judea in Coral Gables. Friends and family are invited to join us in honoring his memory, sharing stories, and remembering the incredible man he was.
