

Lorraine Pearl-Lewison, age 91, passed peacefully April 28th, 2023 at Lily’s Promise in Sarasota, Florida. Lorraine was born October 15th, 1931 in Miami, Florida to Max and Gussie Jacobskind.
Lorraine attended Shenandoah schools, Miami High, and was a graduate of University of Miami. Lorraine was a talented teacher instructing children in Atlanta, Georgia, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Miami, Florida. Lorraine taught early childhood education at Temple Beth David and Temple Bet Shira while raising 5 children of her own. Her students would call her Mrs. Curl as they could not say Mrs. Pearl. She enjoyed her 2- and 3-year-old students, as it was said she potty trained many now doctors and lawyers in Miami.
Lorraine is best remembered for her love of her family, kind heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a devoted friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
As a child living on her grandfather’s dairy farm in Hialeah, she recalled going with him to gather corn for their dairy cows. She shared her memories of the Seminole Indians living near the crystal-clear Miami River where she often swam with her siblings and friends.
Lorraine, also known as Lolly, Lolly-Pop, and fondly Nana, loved life. She enjoyed her travels with her husband Bob. They traveled around the world to exotic places, visited all 7 wonders of the world, and took many cruises. Lorraine loved Miami and all it had to offer, but one of her favorites was spending time in Vegas, as she became quite the poker player.
Lorraine was very musically talented, playing piano, guitar, mandolin, violin, and harmonica. There was never a surprise when she would break out in song and dance with props included. Lorraine took great pleasure in Jewish traditions. She enjoyed boating, fishing, flying, and snow skiing.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Lewison, her parents, her siblings, Tobie (Jon) Nathanson, Barney Jacobskind, and son-in-law, Randy Bateman.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Dr. Michael (Becky) Pearl, Marc (Christy) Pearl, Celia Bateman, Sam (Nancy) Pearl, and Max Pearl. Her loving grandchildren: Jamie Pearl, Carly (Gabriel) Lugo, Dr. Matthew (Dr. Christine Yin) Pearl, Dr. Zachary (Dr. Morgan) Pearl, Dr. Harrison Pearl, Cameron Pearl, Dr. Kellie Bateman, Kevin Bateman, Chelsea (Ryan) Troy, and Akiva Pearl. Her adoring great- grandchildren: Dylan and Silas Pearl, Hannah Lugo, Helen (Xi) Pearl, and Wyatt Troy. Lorraine is also fondly survived by Lorena (Adam) Blonsky, Kim (Mark) Komrad, Todd Lewison (Meryl Craig), Tami (Matt) Shulman. Grandchildren: Heather Blonsky, Michael (Kira) Blonsky, Ilan Komrad, Jesse Lewison, Micaela Shulman, Louis Shulman. Great grandchild: Levi Blonsky.
Lorraine loved and enjoyed life. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed but always remembered in our hearts.
Funeral service will be held at Riverside Gordon Mt Nebo, Kendall 5900 SW 77th Avenue Miami, Florida; May 1st, 2023 at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, Lorraine requested donations be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
