Michelle (Stone) Rosenfeld, 81, of Englewood, NJ, and Coral Gables, FL, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at her Englewood home. Born on December 17, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, Michelle was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. A remarkable, irrepressible force of nature, she had the ability to light up every room and every face.
She graduated from Long Beach High School, attended Emerson College, and received her Master's Degree from Columbia University. Thereafter, she worked as an art advisor and founded the eponymous Michelle Rosenfeld Gallery in New York City in 1970. A female trailblazer in the male-dominated art world, she helped cultivate the careers of many notable artists, and transacted blue-chip works of Warhol, Picasso, and Monet, among others.
She loved people, and was active within her husband Herbert Rosenfeld’s online discussion cohort, her Fisher Island canasta group, and Temple Judea in Coral Gables. She was incredibly generous, inclusive in both her endeavors and her friendships, and actively committed to numerous charities and philanthropic causes. As an advocate for health, education, and the arts, she shared a lifetime of passion and wisdom while supporting many in need. She led art fair tours, and enjoyed traveling, healthy living, and spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Herbert, her brother Victor, her children Jason (and Allison) Rosenfeld, Karen (and John) Aronian and her grandchildren, Remi, Reed, Alec, Laurel, and Jack.
For those who wish to express their condolences through a gift, donations to the Baptist Health Foundation (Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute) are appreciated. Please share your loving memories online at Dignity Memorial. A funeral service will be held at Lakeside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Sunday, May 18th, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a shiva at Grand Living at Coral Gables from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. This coming fall, we will hold an additional celebration of life service in New York City; details will be provided at a later time.
