OBITUARY
Stanley Grusky
2 June, 1930 – 20 January, 2023

Stanley (Sy) Grusky was born June 2, 1930 in Englewood, New Jersey, the son
of Louis and Edna Grusky.
Sy attended Arizona State University where he studied business. After college he worked in the family liquor business.
Sy met his wife Phyllis at the age of 20. They were introduced by Phyllis’ best friend Ethel who happened to be dating and later married Sy’s cousin Sanford Dorf. Sy and Phyllis’ 71st anniversary was December 25th, 2022. Sy and Phyllis moved to Miami with their two sons Elliott and Larry in 1962. Sy managed the family restaurant, Chippy’s on Miracle Mile until it closed in 1976. He continued to work in the restaurant business for the next twelve years. After suffering cardiac issues Sy’s sons decided to bring him into their Chiropractic office to do inventory control and purchasing supplies, which he did for nineteen years until he retired. Sy and Phyllis have resided at The Palace Suites in Kendall for the past
14 months.
Sy was loved by many, including his sons’ patients, business associates and their
friends. He was a sweet, kind man. He loved his wife Phyllis, his sons and their families, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sy is survived by his wife Phyllis Grusky, son Elliott (Iris) Grusky, predeceased by son Lawrence (Diane) Grusky, grandchildren Greg, Rachel (Rafi) Montalvo, Arielle and Darren Grusky and great grandchildren Kingston and Tyler. Sy is also survived by brother Gerald (Lois) Grusky of Boca Raton, Florida, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
