Susan Dori Resnick was born April 29, 1949 in Providence, Rhode Island. At the age of around 3 years old her family moved to Miami, Florida, where she lived until her death on February 17, 2026, at the age of 76. She was surrounded by family and close friends.
Susan—known to most as Dori—developed many friendships with people (and animals) from all walks of life. During her time working as a bartender on Miami Beach, she met Manuel Goyanes, and despite being told by doctors that she would never have children, she gave birth to her son, Robert Goyanes, in 1987.
Though she had many struggles, Dori persevered, maintaining an unbelievable degree of independence until the very end. Her humor, grit, but most of all, her kindness, were an inspiration to family and strangers alike.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Selma and Jerome Resnick, her brothers Robert and Bill Resnick, and her uncles Abe and Morty. She is survived by her brother Peter Resnick and nephews Adam, Alec, Yoni, Justin and Ayal Resnick, her sister-in-law Tessa Resnick, her cousins Roni, Linda, Jon, Laura, Diane, Joel, Lisa, Cynthia, and Janelle, her son Rob Goyanes, her daughter-in-law Kelsey Garcia, her granddaughter August Goyanes, and her cat Pinky.
