On March 1, 2026, the world lost a truly remarkable soul, David Lawrence Daughtery, who passed away peacefully at his home in Middleburg, Florida, after a courageous battle with COPD. Born on February 21, 1950, David brought joy, love, and an indomitable spirit to all who knew him.
David was the beloved son of James Francis Daughtery , and Bessie Virginia Rohling-Stone and was cherished as a brother to Jean Mason, Sheri Forehand , Gary Daughtery, and Hank Clark . Though he has now joined his loving wife, Nancy Ophelia Daughtery, in eternal rest, the legacy he leaves behind is carried forward by his devoted family. His daughter, Kelly Christine Edmondson, along with her husband Bryan Edmondson, and son, David Jason Daughtery, with his wife Courtney Daughtery, will forever hold him close in their hearts. His grandchildren, Haley Dixon, Hunter Dixon, Addison Daughtery, and Brady Daughtery, were the lights of his life, and he took immense joy in the laughter and chaos they brought into his home. David's great-grandson, Easton Hulsberg, Haley's son, will grow up hearing stories of his great-grandfather's warmth and humor.
David's life was a testament to service and dedication. He proudly served in the US Army from May 16, 1967, to May 15, 1970, where he honed his skills as a heavy machinery mechanic. After his military service, David continued to apply his talents as a mechanic and manager at Blount Island, and later with TICO, a heavy-duty equipment rental company. His colleagues remember him not only for his expertise but for his kindness and camaraderie.
Beyond his professional achievements, David's passions painted a vibrant picture of his life. He was a lover of the great outdoors, spending countless hours boating, fishing, and camping. His love for riding motorcycles and admiration for old muscle cars were well-known among his friends and family. David's true joy, however, was found in the company of his family, whether it was playing with his grandkids or embarking on family vacations that created cherished memories.
David was a man of character and warmth, known for his quick wit and infectious smile. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. His kindness was legendary, often extending a helping hand to those in need, embodying the true spirit of generosity.
David's surviving family includes his nieces, Sam Burgamy, Gini Mason (affectionately known as Gingerbread), and Jill Clark, along with his nephews, Curtis Daughtery, Ben Daughtery, Aaron Daughtery, Adam Justice, Michael Price, Chris Mason, Brian Mason, and Johnny Clark. Each of them will carry forward the lessons of love and laughter he imparted.
In remembrance of a life so well-lived, a celebration of David's life will be held on March 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the home of his son, Jason Daughtery. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of a man who touched so many lives with his generosity and unwavering kindness.
Though David Daughtery has left this earthly realm, his spirit remains alive in the hearts of those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and a reminder that life's greatest treasures are found in the love we share with those around us. Rest in peace, dear David, knowing you will never be forgotten.
