David Carl Odom

David Carl Odom, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered eternal rest on January 4, 2026, in Orange Park, Florida. He was born on September 11, 1955, in Lumberton, North Carolina, to the late Willie and Edna Odom.

David spent many years working in manufacturing, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dependability, before retiring after a life of honest labor. He was a good man in every sense of the word—one who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. David had a genuinely good heart, marked by deep empathy for others, unwavering faith, and a quiet strength that brought comfort to those around him.

A faithful Baptist, David loved the Lord and cherished his family deeply. He was a laid-back country boy at heart who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He especially loved his morning bowl of grits, country music playing in the background, and time spent in the kitchen cooking for those he loved. His family fondly remembers his Fried Pork Chops and Rice as a favorite dish that brought everyone together. David also had a special love for animals and was a devoted caretaker to his seven cats, who were a constant source of companionship and joy.

David was married for 17 years to the love of his life, Dora M. Odom, with whom he shared a life filled with love, laughter, and mutual devotion.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dora M. Odom; his daughter, Eva Galler (Roger Sr.); his stepson, Sean Key; his brothers, John Odom (Kelly) and James Odom; his sister, Betty Odom; and his cherished grandchildren, Roger Galler II, Samantha King (Jody), Elianya Galler, and Banphrionsa Galler. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his father, Willie Odom; his mother, Edna Odom; and his sister-in-law, Tanya Odom.

David Carl Odom will be remembered for his kindness, humility, faith, and the love he so freely gave. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
