

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Barbara (Kissinger) Lane; his eldest son, Terry Lane; his younger son, John Lane and his wife Vicky; brother, John “Buster” (and wife Pat); sisters Ann (and husband Jack) Wissbaum and Peggy Dooley; and grandchildren Brendan and Audrey Lane.
Born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, the son of John and Marguerite Lane, he graduated from Wilmington’s New Hanover High School before serving four years in the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg.
Known by friends as “Red,” Mr. Lane lived for many years in Miami, Fla., where he met his wife with whom he traveled to locations including London, Paris, Rome and Hawaii. He worked as a sales executive in Little Rock, Ark., Jackson, Miss., and Roanoke, Va. before making a home in Orange Park to raise his family. In Florida, Mr. Lane achieved his lifelong ambition to be an entrepreneur when he opened his own printing and office supply business in Jacksonville in 1988.
Mr. Lane enjoyed playing golf, reading, listening to music, horse and dog racing, watching sports, fishing and spending time with his family. He was an avid fan of football and basketball and cheered for the Miami Hurricanes, Miami Dolphins, Florida Gators, UNC Tarheels and Jacksonville Jaguars. Mr. Lane also owned an extensive collection of Beatles records.
A memorial service for Mr. Lane will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church in Orange Park on Monday, Feb. 23 at 2 pm.
