Julia Ann McKown, of Dixon, formerly of Penny Farms, Florida was born on February 27, 1937, at Jasper, Florida, a daughter of Alton McKown and Florine Jewel (Taylor) and Irvin R. Altman and departed this life at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020 at her residence. Ann had attained the age of 83 years and 9 days.
Ann was a long time member of the Russell Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, Florida and later attended the Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon, Missouri. In early years she owned and operated a restaurant and later she worked for Simmons Mattress Company and was a member of the Steel Workers Union. She enjoyed gardening, reading, quilting, her family and her beloved dog Missy, who was never far from her side.
Those left to mourn the passing of Ann include: two brothers and sisters-in-law, Barney Howard and Lorrie Altman, Dixon and Paul W. and Mary Altman, Middleburg, Florida; nephews and nieces, Wayne, Alan, Anthony, Angel, CharLee, Irvin (Jay) and Steven; great-nephews and great-nieces, who were all like her grandchildren; as well as uncles, aunts and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Florine (Taylor) McKown Altman; her father, Alton McKown and her step-father who raised her, Irvin R. Altman
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2020 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, Missouri and from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2020 in the Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home, Middleburg, Florida.
