Corey Alexander Smith

Corey Alexander Smith, 22, of Indian Trail, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017. He was born January 16, 1995, to Christy and Wayne Smith. Corey graduated from Porter Ridge High School in 2013, where he was a member of the football team.

Corey was an avid motorcyclist. He loved spending time with his friends and working on cars. He loved animals, especially his dogs, Rambo and Diesel, and his cat, Tigger.

Corey is survived by his mother, Christy Smith; his grandparents, Carl and Dorothy Merrell and Walter Smith; god-parents, Bea and Toddy Todd; an uncle, aunt and several cousins; as well as his stepmother and step-siblings.

Corey was preceded in death by his father, Wayne; grandmother, Mary Ann; his uncle, Roger; and his beloved Labrador Retriever, Ace.

Service will be held at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Visitation from 11 AM to 1 PM, with service in the chapel at 1 PM. Graveside service to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens on Lawyers Road in Mint Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
