Doris Ann Wallace Price passed away into life eternal late Saturday evening, August 10, 2019, at her home in Midland, North Carolina, in the company of her loving and supportive family. She was 88 years old.
Born July 14, 1931 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Mrs. Price was a daughter of the late Floyd Edgar Wallace and Theatus Blanche Simpson. She was a member of the 1949 graduating class of Oakhurst High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Following graduation, Mrs. Price went to work for Sears, Roebuck and Company in downtown Charlotte where she met the love of her life, Tommy Price. In 1954, they started Price Grading Service. From then until the time of her passing, she was Co-owner, office operations manager, and consultant for Price Grading Service and Tommy Price, Inc. She was born into the church family of Amity Presbyterian Church in Charlotte and in later years, along with her husband, Tommy, attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Wesley Chapel, North Carolina.
Mrs. Price will be remembered, first and foremost, as an adoring child of God, as well as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a lover of cats and dogs and any kind of wildlife, which could be found in abundance in the fields and woods around her home. She was an exemplary humanitarian and friend to all; she truly showed love to everyone she met.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Price was predeceased by her husband, Thomas L. Price on August 22, 2012; a sister, Patsy Wallace Elms; and an infant brother, Thomas Oscar Wallace.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Price of Midland, North Carolina and Paul Price and wife, Laura, of Stanfield, North Carolina; her daughter, Mary Ann Price Conard and husband, Dennis, of Stanfield, North Carolina; and two granddaughters who brought her great joy, Carrie and Hannah Conard.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, August 16, 2019, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A service of worship and celebration will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 120 Potter Road South in Monroe, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the church cemetery on Potter Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, as well as the outreach and mission efforts of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Amity Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church of Concord, Carolina Presbyterian Church, PCA of Locust, NC, and/or the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County.
