

Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint-Hill Road. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with The Rev. Jim Cashwell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Born June 12, 1944 in Campobello, SC, Emily was the daughter of the late Harold Ladson Foster and Louise Alice Ragan Foster. She was a graduate of Lander College in Greenwood, SC. Emily was a teacher and taught in the North Carolina and South Carolina public schools for 35 years. From 1988 to 2004, she taught in Union County, NC. Emily enjoyed painting, but her greatest passion in life was teaching children to read.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, L. Derrell Livingston, her daughter, Leah L. Neal, and granddaughter, Cara Fair Neal, all of Indian Trail; her brother, Samuel C. Foster and his wife, Jane, of Spartanburg; her nephew, Scott Foster of Spartanburg; and her niece, Julie Musselman, her husband, David, and their children, Mary Carlyle Musselman and David Musselman, Jr., all of Beaufort, SC.
