Horace Devon Hill

Mr. Hill was born July 13, 1929 in Union County, NC to the late Appleton and Eula Cox Hill. He was a residential building contractor and co-owner of Hill and Hill Builders until his retirement in 1995. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lois, earlier this year, by a daughter and by three brothers.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen Hill Miller and husband, Jeff, of Mint Hill; his son, Jeffrey Hill and wife, Melanie, of Durham; five grandchildren, Joey (Heather) Parker, Andy (Leah) Parker, Erin Parker, Daniel Parker, and Tyler Hill; two great-grandchildren, Roman Parker and Tehya Parker; his brother, Olin Hill of FL; and three sisters, Vera Little, Edith Fincher and Jeanette Morrow, all of Monroe.

The family will receive friends from 9-10:30 Saturday morning at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 at Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family would like to extend gratitude to his hospice nurse, Linde, the amazing caregivers of Compassionate Care of Charlotte, and the many friends who filled these last days with love, companionship, and caring. We couldn’t have done it without you.
