John Michael Ziegler, 92, of Matthews, NC passed away on March 7, 2021. He was born in New York on June 18, 1928 to Margaret Mullen Ziegler and Armand Ziegler. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Louise Arlene Bastien Ziegler; daughter Jeanne Quann; granddaughter Aimee J. Miller and son Michael J. Ziegler.
John was a proud Electrical Engineer who graduated from Columbia University with a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering. Moving to Charlottesville, VA, in the sixties, he worked for Automated Specialties and spent the remainder of his career as a co-owner of AJ Associates.
John and Louise retired to Mint Hill, North Carolina where they enjoyed gardening, dinners with family, exploring the local area and attending St. Luke Catholic Church.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather he was passionate about music and dogs. Cosmo, a West Highland Terrier, helped comfort Pop after losing his darling wife, Louise and moving to Windsor Run.
John is survived by his son, Robert Ziegler (Laura) of Monroe Township, NJ; daughter-in-law, Cheryll Ziegler of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Sharon Ziegler of Charlotte, NC, Caroline Ziegler Grzych (Richard) of Jacksonville, FL, Matthew Skelton of Gainesville, GA, Adam Ziegler (Dawn) of Jackson, NJ, Alex Ziegler (Kelly) of Brick, NJ, Leanne Ziegler of Rock Hill, SC; his precious great-grandchildren Benjamin Walters, Cory Ziegler, Al’aura Walters, Caden Ziegler, Kayvan Franks, Amelia Ziegler and too many nephews and nieces to mention.
A viewing will take place Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Mint Hill, NC .
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Novant Hospice of Charlotte or St. Luke Catholic Church.
