

Jeanette was born in Lowell, North Carolina (Gaston County), to George Walker Martin and Katherine Nallie Powers, on June 20, 1928. She was the oldest daughter in a family of four boys and four girls. Jeanette married Walter Tommy Donaldson, a Marine veteran, on May 20, 1946. Jeanette and her beloved “Pedo” had three children; Walter Tommy Donaldson, Jr., Susan Lynette Donaldson and Robert Earl Donaldson (Bobby). She was predeceased by her husband, daughter, Susan and son, Bobby.
She is survived, by her son, Tommy (Cathy); and her daughter-in-law, Diane Elliott Donaldson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In the 1950’s, Jeanette was the leader of a group of young ladies, which regularly appeared in the Carousel Parade as the “Queen City Twirlers.” Jeanette was an excellent bowler, and she held many city wide records and championships, during decades of bowling.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Thursday, October 11, 2018, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Her son, Rev. Tom Donaldson will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill.
